EU Entry and Exit System (EES) The EU will launch the Entry and Exit System in 2025 to digitize the manual process of passport stamping. This system will streamline border crossings by allowing foreign travelers to register at the EU’s external borders.

European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) Applicable only to visa-exempt visitors, ETIAS will enable over 1.4 billion travelers from 60+ countries to apply for travel authorization before visiting the EU. Both EES and ETIAS aim to enhance security and ease travel processes.

Bulgaria and Romania Join Schengen Area Starting January 1, 2025, Romania and Bulgaria will become full Schengen Member States by sea and air. This integration will eliminate internal border controls, facilitating seamless travel for residents and visitors.

Greece Golden Visa Expansion Greece will expand its Golden Visa program in 2025 by introducing a start-up investment pathway. To qualify, foreign investors must:

• Invest a minimum of €250,000 in start-ups listed on the National Register of Start-ups.

• Hold at least 33% equity in voting rights or company capital.

• Create at least two jobs within the first year of investment.

• Maintain the workforce for a minimum of five years.
